Italian artist Gabriele Simonetta has implemented a photogrammetry workflow to help layout and provide reference for an impressive scene he created depicting a street in rural Italy.
In a forum post titled ‘A day at the sleepy village’, Simonetta unveiled several charming and photorealistic images from his most recent project, a study in collaboration with architect and journalist Francesco LaTrofa. The final scene was rendered using 3DS Max with Corona Renderer.
On-site in the Italian city of Vittorio Veneto, Simonetta used an Insta360 One X camera while strolling down Via Cinzio Cenedese to document the surroundings, capturing colours, basic geometry and the layout of the street.
Simonetta then generated a point cloud, model and textures in Agisoft Metashape to use as reference materials as he built his scene.
The resulting images show off clean, high-resolution geometry, detail and texturing. A picturesque scene with a pleasantly subdued colour palette.
