Adobe today has used its Adobe MAX conference in Los Angeles to announce a set of new capabilities and features for its Creative Cloud software suite, including the launch Photoshop on iPad and an ‘extended’ Adobe Fresco on Microsoft Surface.
The creative software company also previewed Adobe Illustrator for iPad and the new Photoshop Camera, as well as introducing Adobe Aero, which it is calling a new authoring tool for creating in augmented reality.
New features powered by Adobe’s Sensei AI technology have also been added to Adobe’s core product set including Auto Reframe in Premiere, new Object Selection tools in Photoshop, Auto Tone in Photoshop Camera and Live Brushes in Fresco.
Adobe Fresco, released for iPad earlier this year, is a tablet-based drawing and painting application that Adobe says takes advantage of its Sensei AI model to do things like create realistic watercolour and live paint interactions digitally.
Adobe Aero is a new IOS app for viewing and creating AR content. The app is integrated with Photoshop and Dimension, Adobe’s 3D rendering and design solution.
Photoshop Camera is a mobile camera app designed to “bring Photoshop magic directly to the point of capture”. The tool is intended to help users capture and publish high quality captures on social media with an included library of lenses and effects from artists and influencers. The software will also use Adobe Sensei to “automatically enhance photo quality”.
Auto Reframe for Premiere Pro is another AI-based tool that analyses footage and applies automatically panning and cropping designed to keep the most important action within the frame and intended to save creators time in the editing room.
Updates for After Effects relate to performance, and promise smoother playback of cached preview, faster Multichannel EXR files and a faster Content-Aware Fill that uses less memory. Lightroom has introduced interactive in-app tutorials that can better guide users on how to edit photos. InDesign has launched support for SVG imports across digital and print design workflows
Adobe has also unveiled a redesigned Creative Cloud desktop app, which now includes a native search engine that can search for tutorials or assets across the entire Creative Cloud. New ways to access services such as Adobe Fonts, Adobe Stock and Behance has also been included.
“We’re excited to push the frontiers of creativity to make everyone more productive and express their creative vision,” Creative Cloud chief product officer Scott Belsky said.
“Today’s announcements redefine the creative experience for everyone-not only seasoned professionals, but also the next generation of designers, photographers, filmmakers and illustrators.”
